History
The history of Brar: from a small business to a global player in the high-current cables and solutions sector.
Founded in 1974 by Livio Arioli, Brar began as a small artisan business based in a workshop on viale Virgilio in Suzzara, specialising in the production of cables for spot welding machines. Supported by his brothers-in-law, Ercole and Luciano Brandoli, Livio started experimenting to improve the quality of his products.
Thanks to these continuous improvements, Brar began to grow, and in 1977, the company relocated to a larger facility on Via E. Montaldi, adopting an industrial approach to production. Success soon followed, and Brar became an official supplier to major automotive brands such as Fiat, Innocenti, Maserati, and Alfa Romeo.

A turning point came in 1981 when Brar produced its first electric furnace cable for the Feralpi Steelworks. This entry into the steelmaking market opened new opportunities, driving the company to further growth and prompting a move to a new 1,200 sqm facility on via Emilia Romagna.
In 1982, the company expanded internationally with the establishment of Brar International, participating in trade fairs such as the one in Birmingham and beginning collaborations with foreign automotive manufacturers like Renault, Scania, and Saab.

Continuous innovation led Brar to develop unique products, such as the Stellar Cable, patented in 1987, which became one of the most high-performing cables for spot welding machines.
In 1991, the company achieved another prestigious milestone with the patent for the Rotating Terminal for steel mill cables, which became the global standard for the industry.
In 1993, following the passing of the founder Livio Arioli, leadership of the company was entrusted to his son Alessio Arioli, who initiated a new phase of growth.

In the 1990s, Brar further established itself in the automotive sector by producing battery cables for Fiat and participating in the international steelmaking trade fair Metec. Continued growth led to the need for further expansion, and in 1999, the company moved to a new 3,800 sqm facility in Pegognaga.
In 2000, Brar entered new markets through a joint venture in South America, and in 2001, it expanded its presence in Europe with the establishment of ERICABLE.

In 2005, Brar shifted its focus away from battery cable production to concentrate on high-value products, including water-cooled cables and electrode arms for steelworks.
These advancements marked a pivotal step in the company’s evolution, driving continued innovation and growth.

The following decade saw Brar strengthen its presence in international markets by participating in trade fairs such as AISTECH and establishing BRAR USA Corporation in 2010.
In 2011, the company secured major contracts with engineering firms like OUTOTEC and Ansaldo, and in 2012, it launched the BEPS project to optimise production processes in line with Lean Manufacturing principles.

In 2013, Brar expanded its presence in Asia with the establishment of Brar India Pvt. Ltd.
Continuous growth and a commitment to technological innovation culminated in 2014 with the launch of a new corporate identity and website, reinforcing Brar's position as a global leader in high-current solutions.

Since 2023, with its production facility in Romania, Brar has strengthened its strategic presence in Eastern European markets, bringing the company closer to its customers.
This proximity allows Brar to ensure local production of top-quality products, combined with prompt on-site support and maintenance services.
With this facility, the company can answer quickly and efficiently to market demands, providing consistent support and delivering quality that meets its high standards.
