Tubes and protections
High-strength rubber coatings
The outer rubber tube plays a crucial role in ensuring the proper functioning of both the cable and the electric furnace. Subjected to twisting, electrodynamic stresses, and abrasion, the outer tube must withstand extreme conditions such as high temperatures, chemical agents, and corrosive fumes.
Brar develops outer tubes specifically designed for electric furnaces and high-current systems, ensuring optimal protection and cooling of the cables.
- Heat and thermal stress resistance.
- Abrasion and aggressive chemical resistance.
- Enhanced flexibility, to withstand mechanical stresses.

Made from 316 stainless steel, a material that ensures resistance to oxidation and corrosion.
The strap thickness has been specifically designed to provide proper mechanical and hydraulic sealing of the tubes near the terminals.

At the centre of the cable, there is a central rubber tube with a variable diameter designed to support the copper strands and optimise their mechanical performance and cooling. The central tube is secured to the copper terminal using a brass pin.
Note:
Other types of central supports (such as metal springs) should always be avoided as they accelerate the wear of the strands.

Thermal protections wrap around the rubber tube and are secured with zippers or Velcro. They vary based on the material used (silicone, vermiculite, aluminum, Pyrojacket). When used alone, they do not provide strong abrasion resistance; it is important to combine them with traditional bumpers.

Various types of protections are available depending on specific needs:
- Additional Wear-Resistant Tube, capable of also providing thermal protection for the cable.
- Bumpers (traditional, free, and vulcanized).

In many cases, it is necessary to protect the cable from significant mechanical stress caused by the tight bending radius near the terminals. Mechanical protections consist of stiffening tubes inserted into the cable to absorb these stresses.

Mechanical protections consist of a second stiffening tube that covers the entire length of the cable, significantly increasing its resistance to mechanical stress caused by the force generated by the electromagnetic field on the cables.
